Clay Triangle:
Clay Triangle
Clay triangles are used by placing them on a ring stand. They are used in one of two situations when direct heat from a Bunsen burner is required. This is used instead of a metal screen and pad being placed above the flame of the Bunsen burner.
They are used to support crucibles in several experiments when high heat is required. They are also used to support evaporating dishes when driving off the water content remaining with residues after filtration.
Failure to use a clay triangle by using a screen and asbestos pad, (not using the direct flame beneath the vessel), results in inordinate amounts of time being used to conduct the operation of evaporation or heat annealing.
